Shrink plastic (also called shrink film, shrinky dinks or shrink wrap), can be used to create all kinds of decorative objects such as keychains, pins, card embellishments or shrink charms. Choose a design and draw, trace or stamp onto the plastic shrink sheet with a permanent marker or ink. An alternative to drawing onto the shrinkable sheet is to punch out fun shapes with a craft punch. When making a keyring, charm or other project with a hole, please remember to punch or cut out the hole before baking the material. Holes also shrink about 7 times, so don’t make them too small. Bake it, Shrink it Cut out the drawing or design and place it on greaseproof paper directly onto a baking tray. Pop in the oven and bake at 150°C / 300F / Gas mark 3 (low) for 2 to 3 minutes. The process develops very quickly and you can watch your project begin to shrink The plastic sheet will shrink rapidly and curl in on itself. This is a necessary part of the process for the material to properly develop. It will go back flat on its own. After baking, the plastic material will shrink and thicken up to 7 times its original size When taken out of the oven, if the shrink process has completely finished the material should be pliable. You can choose between flattening your project by placing it underneath something flat and heavy like a book or you could bend your shape (ideal for creating napkin rings, Christmas ornaments, jewellery etc.) and carve into it with an embossing pen. If, however, the material is curled and cannot be flattened the shrink foil has not been completely through the process. Please note that your shrinky shape cannot be reheated after it has cooled down and will not shrink with further re-heating. The shrink art sheets are available in various bright colours (yellow, purple, blue, green, red, orange) as well as white, black, transparent and frosted /matte.
